Best of Luck to Mr. White!

The Junior Class of FACP said goodbye to Mr. Jim White as he leaves to take over the principal-ship of FAEP. The two groups of eleventh graders often combined for advanced learning projects, merging American history with Ms. Carolyn Smith’s American literature in something Mr. White dubbed a few years ago “hislish.”

Sports Awards Assembly

A great Sports Awards Assembly to end a year of excitement in our competitive athletics program. We celebrated record participation, some cool wins, many “nail-biting-edge-of-your-seaters” and two championships (middle school baseball winning East Division Championship and coming in second in the CAA playoffs). All season participants for the year received school letter with special “pin” awards going to MVPs, MIPs, and Coaches Choices. The finale was the introduction of the new Athletic Director, Drew Mayer. Moving the FA sports program ahead is his singular goal. The volleyball girls (and a crowd of boys who stayed after to meet Drew) were so impressed with how he and his seasoned coaches intend to take the program to the “next level.” Let’s keep the excitement; let’s add the winning. What if . . . ? Go Blackhawks!

Foothills Academy Grand Canyon Adventure

By Robert Cooley

Eleven Foothills Middle School students enjoyed a once in a lifetime educational trip to the Grand Canyon. The trip included a float trip down the Colorado River, rock climbing, bicycle riding in Sedona, fun at Slide Rock State Park, learning new things at the Lowell Observatory, a visit to Sunset Crater Volcano, and Wupatki National Monuments. We hiked the South Kaibag Trail and most importantly, we worked on team activities and really became good lifetime friends.

World Travels at Foothills Academy

Foothills Academy World Fair 2010

Foothills Academy World Fair 2010

We took a trip around the world from our very own Foothills Academy campus. For just a mere dollar or two, we tasted the delicacies of many countries, such as Hungary, Belguim, Italy, Canada, Sweden, Germany, Argentina, Poland, Mexico, England, Jamaica, and France. We stood amazed as waffles and crepes took center stage, and we were invited to partake of foods enjoyed by cultures far and wide. Music made us dance and created an atmosphere where we could engage in conversations with our friends. Our student council members astounded us with their creativity; we loved their ideas and their willingness to entertain us. We took a trip around the world and have snapshots of our day stored in our memories.
