THIS MONTH IN BLACKHAWK NEWS:
| Director's View:
Meeting The Challenge: Accountability, Academics and
Stewardship by Dr. Donald S. Senneville Were throwing down the gauntlet, calling ourselves and our students out on the issue of achievement. Though weve done well, were challenging ourselves and our students this year to achieve higher levels of learning, to develop a stronger, more nurturing community, and to exceed our current strong standing among college prep schools in Arizona. Our notion of challenge contains three main dimensions. First, students, teachers, and administrators have an obligation to live up to the responsibilities of their positions in the school; thats accountability. Second, students, teachers, and administrators have the task of facilitating and developing higher-order learning that results in higher grades, higher test scores, and acceptance into appropriate colleges and universities; thats academics. Third, students, teachers, and administrators must continue to shoulder the demands of caring for and managing the wide range of that which is entrusted to us; thats stewardship. By excelling in these three areas, we will meet the challenge of achieving our highest goals. You can read the rest of this article by downloading the newsletter here. |
BLACKHAWK NEWS BACK ONLINE:
After a late start due to staff changes, our newsletter is back online. Nanci Arvizu now takes the helm, after co-editing with Karen Crotty last year. Thanks to both for all their hard work! You can download the current issue here.
LAPTOPS IN ACTION AT FOOTHILLS ACADEMY:
Our technology funding drive last year allowed us to make a quantum leap into 21st Century learning. We acquired two mobile carts of laptop computers for convenient deployment in any classroom on campus. This exciting technology is now fully operational. Sincere thanks to all those who contributed and made this educational innovation possible. We've created a new page on our website that shows our new technology in action. You can view it by clicking on this link: laptops.html.
