Students at Foothills Academy develop a sense of pride in their school, country, and personal achievement.
Case in point was our response to the Hurricane Katrina disaster in 2005. Our students, parents, and staff raised $6173.27 in relief funds for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Taco Bell had pledged to match all donations, so the net effect of our effort was over $12,000. Funds were transferred to the Red Cross for distribution as needed. This generous response is exactly what Dr. Senneville is talking about in his statement on our home page, where he says:
"... Foothills Academy students can think on their own, they can exercise leadership, they are sensitive to their surroundings, and they are able to develop rich social relationships. Foothills Academy graduates take these qualities with them in a powerful combination for their future."

Dr. Senneville congratulates
one of our many hard-working students.
Academic achievement is both encouraged and recognized at our yearly Academic Awards Assembly (above image). Students in all grades are cited for qualifying on the Honor Roll (3.3 GPA) and Director's List (3.8 GPA). Parents are also in attendance, watching proudly as their students receive due recognition for their hard work. In addition, we take this opportunity to recognize those teachers who have made special efforts to help their students excel. As Director Don Senneville, likes to say, "It's ok to be a good student here at Foothills."
Also worth mention is the longevity of our faculty. Several have been with us from our start back in 1993. High teacher turnover rates are typical in most schools, due to the personal mobility inherent in our society, and the difficulty of locating high-quality professional educators. We are fortunate to have a committed team of teachers. Retaining faculty lends continuity to the system and makes grade transitions easier on our students.
Our accomplishments extend beyond academics. In 2003, Foothills Academy received the Valley Forward Association's top Environmental Excellence Award, the Crescordia, for "outstanding contributions to the physical environment of Valley communities." This prestigious award is recognition of our commitment to energy efficient design, water conservation via xeriscaping, and visual integration of the architecture within the natural landscape. It is essential that a campus provide physical spaces conducive to study and reflection. See our Campus Life page for some examples of how this all works.
