The publications class at Foothills Academy offers talented student writers, photographers, and graphic designers the opportunity to shine creatively and hone their skills working on the yearbook, the school magazine, and the literary magazine. Students interested in joining the publications class should speak with faculty advisor Katie Donahoe.
Each year, the FACP yearbook reflects the quality and character of the students because it is created exclusively by them (with the supervision of the faculty advisor). The yearbook captures important school events, contains student and faculty photos, and provides a historical record of each academic year.
Our yearbook is printed and released before the end of the school year to allow for distribution and signing activities. In order to include photos of year-end activities such as academic and athletic awards, prom, and graduation, Foothills Academy produces an electronic Yearbook Supplement featuring these end-of-year highlights.
The Soapbox is our school magazine, and like the yearbook, it is created entirely by the students. The magazine provides students with the opportunity to write news, sports, and opinion pieces, as well as to participate in the editing and business sides of managing a publication. Students use The Soapbox to express their opinions, explore political issues, document campus news, and allow their senses of humor to shine.
The literary magazine is also managed exclusively by the publications students. It offers all FACP writers and artists the opportunity to have their short stories, poetry, essays, photos, drawings, and paintings published.
